Where I Stand

Affordable Living

Affordability starts at City Hall.

What I believe

In a downturn, City Hall should also be looking for ways to reduce pressure on residents. That means protecting and expanding low-cost or no-cost recreation, community programs and public spaces so families can still participate in their community without adding another expense to the household budget.

What I am concerned about

Every new fee, tax increase, permit delay and regulatory requirement eventually lands somewhere, often on homeowners, renters, businesses or the cost of new housing.

What I will push for

I will push for responsible spending, realistic budgets and better scrutiny of major projects before taxpayers are asked to pay the bill.

My approach:

  • Keep property taxes as affordable as possible
  • Challenge unnecessary spending and costly bureaucracy
  • Look for efficiencies before asking taxpayers for more
  • Protect low-cost and no-cost community opportunities
  • Make major capital decisions based on need, value and long-term affordability
